Good News from Dr. Singh!
Dr. Singh & his team provide a heavenly scene at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.
Dr. Varinder P. Singh, MD
I received some very good news yesterday afternoon from Dr. Singh, the doctor who implanted a stent near my major heart artery in 2023. A general rule of thumb is that stents are inserted when there is more than 70% blockage. But given that my stent is in a very major artery near the heart, Dr. Singh told me that in such cases a 50% blockage factor is the threshold for implanting stents. So as I went in for surgery, I was expecting I would be spending the night in the hospital.
As it turns out, the the actual view of the angioplasty procedure showed that there was nothing of concern next to the existing stent. As soon as the procedure was finished and while I was still on the table, Dr. Singh came around to my side and showed me on a large screen next to me that the area next to and in my existing stent was completely clear and of no concern.
So that was really good news! But what also is good news is how well a host of health professionals from multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds worked in harmony for the task at hand—to better the health of the patients regardless of political or religious views. Each person has a specific job with various tasks to quickly carry them out. It’s almost like watching ants go about their business each with a specific assignment that somehow mysteriously fits together for the good of the community. Except that unlike ants, which are creatures without souls, the health professionals I encountered for a second time in three years, went about their business with obvious care for me as an individual (as well as others in that area). It was again an uplifting experience which in a way was a tiny answer to our request in The Lord’s Prayer when we pray that “Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Given the good news I received yesterday, I hope to pull together the headline news from Monday, May 11, and today although I’m still shaking some of the cobwebs from anesthesia hangover.
Best wishes,
Jay Taylor
